Aimbot Types Explained: Soft vs Silent vs Legit vs Rage
The ASiL team breaks down soft, silent, legit and rage aimbot in plain player language, with honest risk notes.
"Aimbot" is one word but it hides half a dozen very different behaviors underneath. Half the questions we get in Discord are the same: "I want to play legit, which soft aimbot vs silent aimbot should I pick?" or "Is legit aim the same as soft aim?" They are not the same, and the difference decides both how your gameplay looks and how quickly you eat a ban wave.
This guide is the ASiL team's plain-language breakdown of the four aimbot flavors you will actually see in the wild: soft, silent, legit and rage. We have been shipping loaders across FPS and MOBA titles for years, and the forum jargon is inconsistent everywhere. We are going to fix that here.
What an Aimbot Actually Does
An aimbot reads the game's real entity data — either from process memory or from a second machine via DMA — and moves your crosshair (or the raw shot vector) toward an enemy. It is not pixel-detection, it is coordinate-level access, which is why sensitivity or resolution changes do not break it.
The flow is:
Menu reads live enemy positions.
A target selector picks the best enemy based on FOV, distance, visibility and priority rules.
The aimbot module moves the aim. How it moves is where the types diverge.
Everything below is a variation on step 3.
Soft Aimbot (a.k.a. Legit Aimbot Preset)
Soft aimbot is what most subscribers actually run day to day. Instead of snapping instantly, the crosshair drifts to the enemy on a smoothed curve — like a human flick that just happens to always land. On the outside it looks like a hot player having a great session.
Where it fits: Ranked climbs, tournament practice, streaming smurfs. Valorant, CS2, PUBG, Warzone — any competitive FPS where replay review is a real threat.
Typical settings:
Smoothness: 20–80 (higher = slower drift = safer look)
FOV: 3–10 degrees (tight, so it doesn't hunt off-screen enemies)
Activation key: right-click or shift (manual, not always-on)
Bone: chest or head, sometimes randomized

Silent Aimbot — Invisible Bullets
Silent aim flips the philosophy. The crosshair does not move at all. When you fire, the cheat recalculates the shot vector in the background and pushes the bullet into the enemy's hitbox. Nothing on your screen betrays you — until someone watches the demo file.
Where you see it: MOBA scripts, third-person shooters (Fortnite TPP, PUBG TPP), older source-engine titles (CS:S, CS 1.6 heritage). On modern Vanguard/EAC/Hyperion titles, real silent aim is much rarer because server-side sanity checks pick up the mismatched bullet trajectory quickly.
The catch: In demo review, silent aim is obvious. Bullets curve at angles your camera never faced. In competitive ecosystems that means report stacking. Do not use it on a main.
Short version: soft aim moves the aim to the right spot; silent aim never moves the aim but still puts the bullet there.
Legit Aimbot — Is It Its Own Category?
"Legit aimbot" is often used interchangeably with soft aimbot, but forum jargon narrows it a bit. Legit aim is a soft aim configuration tuned specifically for replay-safety and stream-safety: high smoothness (60+), tight FOV (2–4°), added delay, chest-priority bone. It is the "look human" preset.

Rage Aimbot — Unlimited but Loud
Rage aim is the other extreme. Smoothness zero, FOV 180°, auto-fire enabled, multi-target on. The enemy team melts in ten seconds. It is called rage for a reason: it is the "I don't care anymore" mode.
Where it lives: Public server trolling, throwaway smurfs, HvH (Hackers vs Hackers) communities. Never on your main. Never on a Vanguard-, BattleEye-, or Hyperion-protected competitive session for more than one round if you value the account.
Why the ban risk explodes: Rage config puts your inputs outside human reflex distributions. A 180° flick into a headshot in a single tick is not a client-side artifact — it is a signature. Server-side heuristics on Vanguard, EAC, and VAC-Live catch it within minutes. If you must run rage, pair it with a burn account and a proper HWID spoofer rotation.
Aim Assist vs Aimbot — Not the Same Thing
Aim assist is the first-party magnetic help the game itself gives to controller players (Warzone controller aim assist, Fortnite's rotational aim assist). It is legal because the studio built it in.
Aimbot is third-party software and it violates the game's ToS. When a cheat package advertises "aim assist", nine times out of ten that is marketing language for a soft aimbot. Look at what the module does, not what it is called.
Modules That Ship With Aimbots
An aimbot on its own is only half the picture. Most packages bundle these:
Triggerbot: Auto-fires the instant your crosshair grazes an enemy hitbox. Huge combined with soft aim.
RCS (Recoil Control System): Cancels weapon recoil automatically. Game-changer in CS2, Valorant, Warzone where recoil is the mechanical wall.
Prediction: Compensates bullet travel time and drop for moving targets. Life-saver in PUBG, Rust, Arma-like titles.
Bone selection: Head, chest, pelvis, random. Legit players stay chest or random, rage stays head-only.
Silent toggle: Some packages bind a "silent" mode to a key on top of soft aim, giving you both when you need them.

A general map, with the same caveat: every provider implements things differently, always read the specific package description.

Ban Risk Ranking
Not absolute — fine-tuning shifts everything — but a practical compass:
Legit soft + tight FOV + high smoothness: lowest risk. Even demo reviewers struggle to flag it.
Standard soft aim: medium risk. Do not stack modules, do not headshot every round.
Silent aim: report-storm risk. Newer anti-cheat versions flag the trajectory server-side.
Rage aim: highest risk. Great fun, short lifespan.
